Eastern Freeway

We had the mismanagement of the pandemic, you know, the lockdowns, the lying, hotel quarantine, all that sort of thing.

Back in 2014, the cancellation of the East West Link, a project that made sense because it was linking up two freeways, the Tullamarine Freeway and the Eastern Freeway.

Every other freeway project, like the North East Link, is there to link up freeways.

And yet somehow it was cancelled.

Now, Out in Balleen, we've got, I think it's part of North East Link, but look, we'll take it.

The new Balleen walking and cycling path is now opening, creating a dedicated walking and cycling path that connects over the Eastern Freeway, connecting Bellevue Shops, the Balleen Park and Ride, and links to the soon-to-be-upgraded Koolong Creek Trail, new paths along Thompsons Road and the broader network.

And yeah, it's four metres wide and a whole bunch of Great stuff.

yeah and The weird thing is, Frank, you know, the southeast is Melbourne's sort of one of Melbourne's industrial heartland.

You know, if you drive down the Eastern Freeway heading towards, say, Peninsula Link, you'll see it on both sides.

You know, thousands of acres of concrete and tin sheds with all sorts of things going on underneath.

So it's an area that needs workers who can do those things.

I'll just let you know there's been an accident on the Eastern Freeway about 50 metres before the High Street exit.

What's happened, a truck's actually hit one of the light towers and it's fallen across two lanes of the highway, which are the left-hand lanes, and there's about four cars that are all sort of piled up along the service lane.

There wasn't any emergency vehicles on hold at the moment.
