Um, depends on where you live, but, uh, most prominently would be, like, West Nile virus.

Uh, in Michigan, we just had, uh, another case of Triple E, uh, Eastern equine encephalitis.

What the hell?

Um, yeah.

I remember a neighbor years ago who lost a horse to something similar.

Not EEE specifically, but it stuck with me how fast things can go downhill once a mosquito-borne illness takes hold in a large animal.

So between kids getting Skeeter syndrome and dogs needing heartworm treatment, mosquitoes are hitting families from a health angle and a financial angle.

Both, yeah.

Boston and 10 surrounding communities are already at high risk.

West Nile virus and the threat of Triple E, both carried and transmitted by mosquitoes, will remain a threat until the first frost, which normally occurs in mid to late October.

EEE is rare, but it can cause serious illness, including brain inflammation, seizures, coma, or death.

DHS recommends using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves, and pants and avoiding mosquitoes when they are most active.

Residents should also remove standing water around their homes.

And then the only other piece I have is there's been the first positive triple E test in Massachusetts.

I believe it was Kingston, and now there's some West Nile positive tests.

And so just a reminder to folks that until the first frost hits, triple E in West Nile are possible.

Mosquitoes, unfortunately, do not know boundaries, and so A Kingston AAA case could easily be a Rainham AAA case a few days later.

So please be mindful of that.
