I was ju- I was just looking for maybe some neighbors that might have been talking about them in 1840, and I called up, um, the, uh, archivist at the East Hampton Library and I'm talking to her saying, "Hey, I'm trying to find some letters that maybe the neighbors might have written about Julia," and I could tell she was just, just slightly impatient with me and she finally just said, "Well, well, why don't you just look at the Gardiner family papers that we have?" And I said, "Wait, what?" And she says, "Yes, we have, uh, um, hundreds of family, Gardiner family papers.

And she goes, "I thought that they were, uh, I, I tried to have them listed on the National First Ladies website as an archive for Julia Gardiner Tyler." I said, "I can promise you right now it is not listed there, and this is the first time I'm hearing that you have such letters." She said, "Oh, well, we've got hundreds." I said, "Well, we'll definitely want to come and visit them." So Chris and I, March 2020, we d- we drive to East Hampton.
