East Asian studies

I was an empath, so I naturally attracted narcissists into my life unknowingly.

Yet let's use this narcissistic and empath dichotomy to examine my time at the UCSB Religious Studies in East Asian Studies departments from 1990 to 1997, where I got both my undergraduate and graduate degrees.

I entered those programs after attending a class titled The History of Zen Buddhism.

My professor was Dr. Alan Gepard.

Professors approach the Gospels wasn't a vibrational match to how and why they were written.

Their work was so out of alignment with my soul that I wasn't even aware it was happening.

I even moved to the newly formed East Asian Studies Department at UCSB to get my master's degree in Chinese Religious Studies.

Additionally, taking control of the particle while ignoring the field is classic narcissism.

He's written several books as well.

He graduated from Kansas University, worked in Peace Corps and taught hospital sanitation for a medical nonprofit in Tunisia for four years, studied Japanese and taught English in Tokyo for three years, and a graduate school for a master's degree in East Asian Studies, studied Chinese in Taiwan for four years, and wrote weekly dispatches about Taiwan for the Far Eastern Economic Forum.

Review magazine, edited and reported for United Press in Hong Kong, and edited and translated at Agency France Press in Paris, radio correspondent for Voice of America in Tokyo, Beijing, and Washington, D.C., a staff writer at U.S. Information Agency and U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C., diplomatic assignment to Iraq during the U.S. occupation, published two novels, The Reluctant Agent in 2002 and this one in 2004.

I'm currently an undergraduate at the University of Manchester reading East Asian Studies.

Aside from that, I'm also a member of the Royal Historical Society of the UK.

The biggest misconception is that I have some mental problem.

So for the audience members that may not know you, can I trouble you to give a little bit of an introduction before we unpack your amazing journey thus far?

Of course.

So I'm currently an undergraduate at the University of Manchester, reading East Asian studies.

Aside from that, I'm also a member of the Royal Historical Society of the UK, which I was duly elected for as a member in May of 2026, so only very recently.

But... that society has given me a lot of opportunity to network with academics and particularly very seasoned ones.

In 2011, he graduated from Peking University a year early and went to the University of Pennsylvania to pursue a master's degree in East Asian Studies.

At UPenn, he did three things.

First, he filled his elective courses with classes from the Wharton School on investment, entrepreneurial management, and venture capital.
