A lot of the EYLF, like your early years learning framework is built on your theorists.

I haven't come across an Australian one yet in the historical and contemporary theorists that I've been studying lately.

But I guess back to your core question there was the ability to be able to, I guess, do it from a different perspective, make a bit of a difference.

Amanda, could you share with our listeners a theory-based takeaway for us today?

So ELLA aligns closely with the Early Years Learning Framework, particularly the view that children are capable, active learners who learn through relationships, play, and meaningful experiences.

So at its core, ELLA is built on play-based learning with intentional teaching, so using stories and games and interactions to introduce a language in a way that's engaging and purposeful, but also gives you a opportunity to have some of those, um, intentional teaching moments.

And it draws on social interaction and the early language acquisition theory.

it can look quite different, um, based on, you know, the age of the children that you're working with, but also the group of children that you're working with and the group of educators that you're working with.

Um, but obviously we're all working, um, through embedding the early years learning framework and working alongside the, the learning outcomes and really trying to, you know, create environments and interactions with children that are going to support their development in each and every one of those learning outcomes.

And, um, it can be very tricky to try and create a process that is meaningful, but that encompasses that holistic development of not only your child, um, at the service, but all of the children within the service because they're at such a different part of their development where, you know, six months can be such a huge difference.

You know, a three-year-old is very, very different to a three-and-a-half-year-old.
