A Utah postal worker is now facing federal election fraud charges after admitting to throwing away roughly 300 primary election ballots into a dumpster, officials have announced.

Now, Damon C.E. Payson allegedly discarded the outbound mail-in ballots and other mail back in June while serving a postal route in Eagle Mountain.

Now, U.S. Department of Justice officials made the announcement of the charges at a news conference yesterday in Washington.

U.S. Attorney for Utah Melissa Holyoak said that investigators had found no indication, though, that Saeed had acted with a political agenda or targeted specific political affiliations.

In both categories, Utahns were more opposed to data centers than people in other states.

Eagle Mountain City leaders have voted to rezone 41 acres of land next to two existing data centers, opening the door for another future data center.

Eagle Mountain Economic Developing Director Abby Ivory says that they held a public meeting about the land last night, and it was a lot more peaceful than some of the other meetings around the state.

What's happening here is very new, different technology than what's happening across the U.S.

Reagan Peck owns the 41 acres, saying that he would like the opportunity to sell the land for a data center if the opportunity comes up in the future.

He was entrusted with mail for at least 300 residents, included in that load hundreds of official mail-in ballots for the June primary, the primary that already took place.

According to prosecutors, he separated the ballots from the rest of the mail shortly before starting his shift, saw all the officially marked envelopes, chose not to deliver a single one, Roughly 90 minutes later, he pulls into a church parking lot, not even on his route, parks next to a dumpster, tosses all the ballots, as well as some other mail, into the trash.
