Josh UrbanHOST

Those are very broadly defined words.
James CarnerGUEST
23:48
You remember that movie Eagle Eye that came out with Shia LaBeouf like, I don't know, 15, 20 years ago?
Josh UrbanHOST
23:54
It sounds familiar, but I can't recall it.
James CarnerGUEST
23:56
Yeah, some of the technology they were using in that movie kind of because they were going to find someone.
James CarnerGUEST
24:05
They were using – they were hacking into every network to see like an eye of an eagle and follow a person going without those who have the network set up even aware that it's being used for that.
Josh UrbanHOST
24:22
Like let's say I own a coffee shop
Josh UrbanHOST
26:48
So when they call something edge environment, the edge environment, that means that it's hidden all around you.
James CarnerGUEST
26:55
Got it.
GPHOST
83:26
Oh man, y'all gotta...
GPHOST
83:27
If y'all watching thing, you gotta watch Eagle Eye.
EGC DivineHOST
83:30
Eagle Eye?
GPHOST
83:31
Yes, sir.
EGC DivineHOST
83:32
Eagle Eye.
GPHOST
83:32
Eagle Eye.
EGC DivineHOST
83:32
Eagle Eye.
GPHOST
83:33
Yeah, with my man, Shia LaBeouf, before he went a little cuckoo.
Simon BrewHOST
39:57
I put to you folks that if you went to the multiplex that weekend, you wouldn't see anything that was even vaguely impinging on Quantum of Solace's space.
Simon BrewHOST
40:06
You have to go right down the chart to find Eagle Eye where, uh, like towards the bottom end of it, eight weeks on release at that point.
Simon BrewHOST
40:13
Uh, and, and, you know, fairly solid hit, Eagle Eye, as well.
Simon BrewHOST
40:17
Week two though, and Quantum of Solace loses 60% of its money in the US as Twilight comes along.
Simon BrewHOST
40:23
The first Twilight film opens to 69 million.
Colin FollenweiderGUEST
46:13
Help you out.
Colin FollenweiderGUEST
46:14
I'd say in the movie Eagle Eye, there is a sequence when Shia's character, Michelle's character, was getting chased by Billy Bob Thornton's character through an airport.
Colin FollenweiderGUEST
46:26
And then they run off the tarmac and then they go into a shipping plant.
Colin FollenweiderGUEST
46:29
And so we, we filmed this chase scene in a DHL shipping plant out in Pomona.
AdamHOST
25:12
It was a Shia LaBeouf movie.
AdamHOST
25:14
Was it called Eagle Eye or something? He's supposed to play an adult, which he looks like a child, so it doesn't really work.
AdamHOST
25:21
But he's like... he's being tracked or what was the, the, I feel
DuffGUEST
25:27
for Shia and all of his trials and tribulations and, and him trying to be such a macho dude.
Chris PaulHOST
4:24
That is Burning Bright.
Chris PaulHOST
4:25
And tonight we are discussing Eagle Eye from 2008, written by John Glenn, Travis Wright, and Hilary Seitz, directed by DJ Caruso, starring Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan, Rosario Dawson, Michael Chiklis, Anthony Mackie, Ethan Embry, the great Billy Bob, thornton and uh i suppose there's probably a bunch of other important people in there that i'm somehow missing oh yeah julianne moore did the uh did the the voice for aria yes
speaker_7VOICE_ACTOR
4:58
okay
Chris PaulHOST
4:58
um what an incredible so it's not a great movie it's just clearly not a great movie it's uh the action sequences are all right.
Burning BrightHOST
9:07
The other more cynical take, Greengrass at least meant to do the things he was doing.
Burning BrightHOST
9:13
I just hate him for it.
Burning BrightHOST
9:16
directors like this who did eagle eye and kind of imitated the green grass style they were uh saving money uh that's what a lot of is going on in these action sequences where you're zooming in on the driver's side window and you don't actually see the car hit anything you just kind of see the camera shake around so that drives me nuts it's a personal pet peeve of mine but the uh the the window dressing around i mean the uh that's all window dressing The story I thought was good.
Burning BrightHOST
9:44
I thought the actors were good.
Jedidiah AyresHOST
60:39
Uh, from Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones, uh, is the star, and he plays somebody who's- goes undercover in this world for any yeah they they spend a little time dwelling on how painful it is for him to sit there and getting all these you know dirt bag tattoos but yeah i thought about that uh watching with salt and sea for sure dj caruso i thought was going to be just one of my favorite directors after this movie came out and uh he certainly has some movies that i thought were fun and stylish but uh i think looking at his filmography it's clear that the screenplay was huge in the success of this film because uh you know when he's got something to apply that style to it's great but uh quite often uh i've found his films to be disappointing uh that they didn't have that sort of rich world to explore
Mike WhiteHOST
61:44
It's interesting how many times he's worked with Shia LaBeouf on stuff because he did what Disturbia and then I think Eagle Eye is is that Shia as well.
Mike WhiteHOST
61:55
I never saw either of those.
Mike WhiteHOST
61:59
So I can't say if I'm a fan of those or not.
Jedidiah AyresHOST
63:07
It wasn't weird enough or something like that.
Jedidiah AyresHOST
63:11
Disturbia, you know, was kind of a rear window riff and I think begins his sort of what his tween phase.
Jedidiah AyresHOST
63:20
Disturbia, Eagle Eye and I Am Number Four all feel like they're, which is not a bad thing, but it's not necessarily aimed at me.
Jedidiah AyresHOST
63:28
Movies for teenagers was the feeling.
Cody JohnstonHOST
2:24
We had those three options.
Cody JohnstonHOST
2:26
They made four of those films, then a spinoff reality TV show that was inspired by the films.
Cody JohnstonHOST
2:32
Sounds like they just stole the idea.
Cody JohnstonHOST
2:34
Also, the idea is just meeting somebody's parents, but whatever.

18 MINS LATER

Cody JohnstonHOST
20:53
Speaking of cops masturbating, before the break, we mentioned how a whole lot of cops seem to love flock cameras to exclusively spy on their exes, and how flock cameras have enabled the police, or any government agency they work with, or I guess anyone in general, to track and remember the location of everyone's car, even if they didn't commit a crime.
Cody JohnstonHOST
21:16
And how you might be wondering how this technology is any different from the kind of wizardry already used by our government.
Cody JohnstonHOST
21:22
After all, we've been jack jawing about government surveillance for a long time now, from films like The Conversation all the way to films like Enemy of the State.
Cody JohnstonHOST
21:32
Only in films, and just those two.
Randy ValerioHOST
16:57
AI, it's not like Terminator 2 or the Terminator series where it's going to...
