It contained a thirty-six-page affidavit signed by IRS Special Agent Chris Seymour that laid out the government's case against Ippei Mizuhara, and it was Martin Estrada who announced to the world just how much trouble Ippei was in.

The federal complaint filed just a few minutes ago charges Mizuhara with bank fraud for allegedly stealing more than sixteen million dollars from Mr. Ohtani.

According to the complaint, Mr. Mizuhara stole this money largely to finance his voracious appetite for illegal sports betting.

How do you describe Mizuhara? Who is he really in your mind?

I think he is a fraudster.

He's a person who saw a chance to take advantage.

He went and befriended Ohtani as soon as he signed his contract, saw an opportunity, seized that opportunity.

And took advantage of this guy who's really relying on him as a sherpa to get through the United States and understand the customs here.
