Dylan Seward

I think they're very good baseball players.

I just wonder, are we lacking more in the power department for players who might stick up the middle? Obviously, you'd like to get as many players shortstop center field catcher types who you project a hit and hit for some power that's asking for a lot and even Dylan Seward if we want to critique that profile it probably is in the power department so is that kind of the question or is there anything else that jumps out to you

I think it's kind of a combination of the top-end guys and then where is the depth in the class, too.

I think the top-end, I mean, it looks like you have Dylan Seward, number one.

Okay, very confident he's going to be a first-round pick right now.

Our last rankings update was right after the draft, so before area codes.

There's some other things with Spangler.

He didn't play his senior season, so it's a bit of a complicating factor why he didn't go in the first round.

... that's gonna be affecting us throughout the next year or so.

Uh, but the 2027 class, one of the big changes, and right up front, right, the Dylan Seward show i- is kind of the key.

Five tool potential.

He's a switch hitter.

We don't even know who's picking at one-one yet, um, so a lot of that will, will come into play over the next year with regard to Seward.

But I bring him up because we're gonna talk a lot about him, and ultimately, one of the things I wrote in our story is, what happens when you're the top dog? Especially within the draft, they start to nitpick.

We're gonna find something we don't like about Dylan Seward, and I always find that it's usually teams two through five that are gonna find some stuff not to like, right? In 2019, Bobby Witt, like, "Hey, what are some things we could not like about Bobby Witt that maybe he gets to pick four or to pick five?" Um, so ultimately, tucking things aside, Dylan Seward is that guy, and these, these next players we're gonna talk about, the shortstop sect, these are all top 10 pick potentials, and Seward is a step above all of them right now.

Um, so I just wanna put that out there, uh, right off the top because, uh, we could probably do every show with Dylan Seward, kind of like the Rock Chalowski last year.

And even looking at the prep guys too, for me, I don't know if anybody usurps a Grady Emerson type this year.

Maybe Dylan Seward can.

I just want to see a little bit more with the hit tool.

But I want to get your guys' thoughts on that.

I'll say a couple short things on this.

First of all, you say that about – emerson us maybe not having a guy like him this year if you remember correctly at this time last year even into like february march it wasn't just emerson there were their emerson lombard debates day in and day out from people and it wasn't just an emerson thing he just emerged throughout the season as the clear number one guy my second thing i'll say i'll keep this very short um Later in the episode, I'll touch on more if I think Dylan Seward can go pole-to-pole or not, because I don't really know if it's entirely.

I mean, it's definitely possible.
