Durness

Since the Arran trip where we went across to the Isle of Arran and did 95 holes in a day.

Now, you were both here last year for the Durness Challenge.

How did this compare for you, Sam, for Durness compared to 95 holes on the Island of Arran?

This is not meant with any disrespect to Durness, but this was enjoyable.

Durness was not.

The variable ingredient here, because there were seven golf courses on Arran and Dunavity,

Durness,

all great golf courses, but the variable ingredient was the weather.

We've got Richies of Golf up here, and if you want to go further north from Dornoch and Brora, you've got Wick and Ray Golf Clubs, which are, again, Lynx Golf Courses, well worth a visit.

And then further north, which is the journey, but well worth it, is Durness Nine Hole Golf Course, right on the Atlantic coast.

The beach there is like a Caribbean beach.

The sea is crystal clear, blue turquoise.

It's a course that's played from two separate tees.

So if you're playing 18, you'll get a different treat in the back nine than you will in the front nine.

from Dornoch probably a two hour drive along single track roads so you'll bump into some red deer the stags out there you'll see some eagles fishing in the lochs and I know this sounds all like a dream but it is true it's then you drive through a landscape that looks like the moon until you reach Durness.

And they are the most welcoming people in the world.

And we had fantastic weather.

One of the most amazing roads we took came off the A835 at Dumrunny en route from Ullapool to Durness.

It was a small single track road with the most amazing views of the mountains in the distance.

I've lived in Scotland most of my life and I've traveled all over the world to some incredible places such as India, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Kenya, the USA.
