TomHOST

On both sides actually.
BappoHOST
16:25
On both sides, which is, which was what I was surprised about because I have this memory of this Brazil side who go through, you know, Denmark, a, a really good Denmark side, who go through an incredible Dutch side in the semifinal playing really good football, right? Even though there was criticism about Dunga's influence and the, you know, Captain Boredom.
BappoHOST
16:47
But, um-
TomHOST
16:47
[laughs] But, but actually the Brazilian De Jong, no? Wouldn't you say?

18 MINS LATER

TomHOST
34:33
Yeah
BappoHOST
34:33
...
BappoHOST
34:33
Juninho Pernambucano, Aldair, Dunga, César Sampaio.
TomHOST
34:36
Yeah.
Sean O'HaraHOST
8:34
'94 is Brazil.
Sean O'HaraHOST
8:38
I think it's Dunga, but I'm not too clued up on that.
Sean O'HaraHOST
8:41
He's the only Brazilian I know other than Ronaldo in that team.
Sean O'HaraHOST
8:46
And then I think 1990 is Lothar Matthäus.
Andy BrooksGUEST
10:19
I just don't think he would.
Andy BrooksGUEST
10:19
I think they'd try and be a bit more, "Oh, I've got to be a bit like..." Like who, who was the Brazilian one you said in '94?
Sean O'HaraHOST
10:26
Dunga, but I'm not 100% on that.
Andy BrooksGUEST
10:28
Yeah.
Don GoodmanGUEST
57:02
And the-- I didn't realize, but Japan and Brazil have a close economic link, and there were a lot of Brazilian players playing in Japan.
Don GoodmanGUEST
57:12
So, uh, Dunga was playing in Japan, César Sampaio.
Don GoodmanGUEST
57:17
Those are the two standout ones.
Don GoodmanGUEST
57:19
Um, and quite a lot of other Brazilian players.
Javi SolHOST
36:51
Mmm.
Alberto LatiPANELIST
36:51
Leo RibeiroGUEST
44:11
November, yeah, cool.
Leo RibeiroGUEST
44:15
But if we go back in history, Taffarel, Dunga, Falcao, all these lads were started in our youth.
Leo RibeiroGUEST
44:26
Actually, the anthem, we call the hymn of the Internacional, our official song, is called Celero de Aziz.
Leo RibeiroGUEST
44:34
So like the aces, I don't know Celero now, but it's like the one that provides aces to the football around the world yeah and yeah we're part of our history of forming players and yes nice
Leo RibeiroGUEST
48:08
He's unique, the way he helps people and he doesn't like the spotlight on all the things that he does for other people.
Leo RibeiroGUEST
48:17
The way he treats his home workers and his partners, he's an amazing guy.
Leo RibeiroGUEST
48:22
I used to be a big fan of Ronaldinho back then because at his top performers performance uh back in the 2005 2006 i was in london and i remember if you had a chance on your way to work or your way home to stop at the pub have a couple of pints just to watch him play a lot of people would do that would stop what they were doing to go and watch him playing on tv and i was very proud of because i'm from the same city as him and that's nice although he He beat us in one final, basically humiliating Dunga, who was marking him, and he does all these tricks.
Leo RibeiroGUEST
49:04
So if you put on YouTube Dunga versus Ronaldinho, you'll love what he does to Dunga in that final.
David GassHOST
27:04
Part of the reason they do that is because you can sign veteran players to play the other positions, and they have decided that center back and winger are the two most expensive positions, and so they push all their talent into those positions.
David GassHOST
27:16
I was talking with some friends last night about this, and they were like, "Yeah, well, they don't have the Ronaldinhos and Ronaldos anymore." It's like, totally, but those players won World Cups because of Dunga and because of Gilberto Silva and because of Lucio and because of Dida.
David GassHOST
27:30
Like, while those players were all-time greats, the roster was all-time greats, and at some point in a soccer culture, you have to have players who pop up in other positions that are elite at what they do, and the only way to get there is to have full cohesive rosters where Flamengo and Fluminense say, "Who's our best talent at defensive mid? Who's our best talent at center back? Who's our best talent at full back?"
Tom BogertPANELIST
27:52
Mm.
