The paper I'm going to present to you today is based on research I have been conducting for my thesis entitled Prudence or Paranoia: State Security in Ireland during the Restoration for attainment of a Master of Arts by research.

My dissertation and analysis of the development of state security in Ireland by its very nature covers an incredibly broad range of issues over a long period of time.

I was overly passionate about, um, for a long-term career.

Um, but then look, Derek Crilly that was heavily involved with Louth GAA for many years was working in DKIT, and he reached out to me saying that, "We'd love to have you come play here, um, football here." So, um, I was like, "Yeah, well, my Leaving Cert's not gonna get me into any college." [chuckles] Um, so look, we probably went the, I went the long way around about things and went and done a, a Level 5 in sports and recreation in Drogheda here, um, which is only out the road from me, and, um, just built from there, I suppose.

And, um, yeah, like I've ended up now as a, as, as I said, I'm running my own business, and I've went and got a master's degree.

Um, but I suppose back when I left school, that was never, ever, ever on my radar.
