Dummy load

Yeah.

Um, on the last night I was on, I, uh, accidentally checked in using, um, uh, a rig that was attached to a dummy load.

Um, do dummy loads actually radiate, uh, RF? Just curious.

I'm, I'm, I'm wondering how that happens.

Uh, back to the net.

Anyway, I would, uh, I would actually tune my radio as, uh, other people did back in the day when people didn't have all the proper stuff just by watching the light get dim brightness.

[laughs] But now I hear that people sometimes make contacts through hundred watt light bulbs, so that probably wasn't the best idea.

The other half of that story is my friend who lived about a mile and a half away, had a real, you know, proper oil and so forth, you know, the, the, the good dummy loads that I didn't have the money for back then, and, um, I could hear him when he was on his dummy load.
