Munjaro has just been approved by the Food and Drug Administration to be used for patients at high risk for cardiac disease for the prevention of cardiac disease, specifically dying of cardiac disease or having a stroke or a heart attack.

This was based on a recent study that lasted with patients using the medication up to five years compared to Trulicity and older GLP-1 patients.

Trulicity is known to be a cardiac protector, so Munjaro was compared against Trulicity to see if it too is a cardiac protector.

And the data showed that Munjaro reduced the rate of cardiac disease, specifically dying of heart disease or having a heart attack or a stroke, by 8% more than Trulicity did.

With that data in hand, Munjaro is now approved for patients at high risk for cardiac disease, your diabetic patients to prevent cardiac disease, and that is a new indication on the label, good and important news for our diabetic patients.

The FDA has cleared the drug to lower cardiovascular risk in adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease.

It's based on a study that compared Munjara with Lilly's older diabetes drug, Trulicity, which showed Munjara reduced the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and cardiovascular death.

Munjara is also popular as a weight loss drug.
