Gardaí say they're investigating reports of an alleged sighting of an unconfirmed object over the Irish Sea off the East Coast in conjunction with other relevant authorities.

Last year, drones were spotted off Dublin Bay during the visit of the Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in December.

But at the start of Ireland's EU presidency in July, Gardaí said they had invested significantly in their drone and counter-drone capabilities and that they were confident they're up to European law enforcement standards.

The president of the Law Society, Rosemary Loftus, has called for an independent mediator to be appointed to help resolve the dispute over the new criminal legal aid scheme.

At the start of the presidency, when we took over on July 1st, we had a whole lot of meetings and events and heads of state, heads of government in Dublin, and then we had EU commissioners in Cork opening the presidency.

So the French ship, similar type of ship to the British one, it's an anti-air defence frigate called the Aquitaine, was in Dublin Bay, again outside Irish territorial limits, providing this air defence role and was then off the coast of Cork, doing the same arrangement.

An Irish naval officer was on board monitoring the situation.

Now, does this kind of exacerbate or amplify the question about Ireland's spending on defence in general?

It's almost an island in Dublin Harbour.

Some of the most naturally beautiful scenery you can see if you're driving it's a nice drive but there is a summit up there you can go for a walk and you get a view of Dublin Bay and all this kind of thing as well because sometimes when you're in a big city you forget that it's on the coast and going up there it's proper like the kind of cliffs that usually you'd see advertised to the west of Ireland but we have a little spot up here in Dublin as well so it's a pretty good place to go during the daytime for anybody who's interested in that kind of stuff but I imagine for anybody who's more interested in the black stuff than going for a healthy walk there's plenty of good spots in town Bowes and the Palace Bar are two places near enough to the stadium which would be good because the stuff right beside the stadium you're going to be paying super money for beer and so kind of if it looks good and you want to go in there grand but if not then keep walking back into town
