Drupada

When he beheld the host of Pandavas, Raja Duryodhana to Drona drew, and spake these words.

Ah Guru, see this line, how vast it is of Pandu fighting men, embattled by the son of Drupada, thy scholar in the war.

Therein stands ranked chiefs like Arjuna, like to Bhima chiefs, benders of bows, Virata, Yuyudhan, Drupada, eminent upon his car, Dhristaket, Chekitan, Kasi's stout lord, Purujit, Kuntibhoj, and Shaivya, with Yudhamanyu and Uttamauj, Subhadra's child, and Draupadi's, all famed, all mounted on their shining chariots.

On our side too.

Thou, best of Brahmans! See, excellent chiefs, commanders of my line, whose names I joy to count, thyself the first.

And Kasi's prince on his.

Sikhandi on his car.

Dhristadyumna, Virata, Satyaki, the unsubdued, Drupada with his sons.

Then Krishna says, okay, let me ask you another question.

tell me how old were you when King Drupada was bound and brought to you, to your kingdom? And Arjuna said, I was 16 years old when that incident happened.

Krishna then asked, okay, do you remember when you got married to Subhadra? And Arjuna says, yes, yes, I certainly remember.

I was married in my 22nd year.

Krishna says, see, An event such as the marriage which took place 50 years ago or the incident of bringing king Drupada which happened many many years ago, you remember them but you don't remember what happened on this day three years ago.

Why is it? Krishna says, the nature of Maya is that it makes you attach importance to some events such as birthdays, wedding days and victory days and all that and not to others.

You attach importance to something and you don't give that much of significance or value to something else.
