Drew Hyland

Mm-hmm.

Um, and so this is a proper part of the a- the practice of philosophy and this takes me to Drew Hyland's idea of finite transcendence, and flight is a metaphor for finite transcendence.

You're still finite, you're still limited, you're still only one place at one time kind of thing, but you can transcend to some degree your finitude, but not completely.

And of course, we have the Greek myths that tell us, "Be careful when you're flying, 'cause if you become too hubristic, you'll come crashing down to the ground to your demise." Um, and so I, I think, I think, uh, flight, and of course, that goes back to the shaman and soul flight.
