Let me start by, first of all, saying I'm suspicious of the word postmodernity in general.

I'm never really sure what it means or what it applies to.

So when we say that there's a sense in which Kant is a proto-postmodernist, I just want to push back and say I think the only way in which I think the word postmodernity means anything salient is to say that it is an attempt to reckon with the consequences of modernity.

That's really the only thing that seems to unify the broad swath of thinkers that are considered postmodernists.
