Draco Rosa

My second record was an acoustic album, and my third was another full-on rock record that I had produced by my current co-producer, Seth Atkins Horan.

And we produced that at, or he produced it at Phantom Vox Studios, which they don't exist anymore, but they were an amazing private studio owned by Draco Rosa.

And if you don't recognize that name, he was with Ricky Martin in whatever the boy band was that they were in.

I don't remember which one it was, but Apparently he is called Phantom Vox because on all of Ricky Martin's songs, Draco also sang like Phantom vocals with him.

Well, yeah, I mean, my own manager said, because he managed Michael Beinhorn, who had produced, you know, Black Hole Sun and all of that.

And he was managing him, and he said, you know, I think you better hang it up, you know, as a producer.

Yeah, you can co-write whatever, but, you know, it's just, this is not for you.

And I said, no, I don't accept that.

Everybody was telling me, you should work with this kid who's on General Hospital.

His name is Ricky Martin.

And so we took a meeting and he brought his producer, Draco Rosa, to the meeting.

And he lived six blocks away.

They also play basketball in this video.

So in this lineup here, Robbie Rosa, it does the, does the, uh, lead vocals in this song.

He's also known as, uh, Draco Rosa, Robbie Draco Rosa, or simply Robbie or Draco.

I think he becomes, goes on to become a Latin pop star.

In fact, over the course of the band's history, it had, it's had a run of more than 50 members for this very reason.

At any one time, however, the band was usually, except for two isolated eras, composed of five male teenagers.

So, uh, so Ricky Martin's run went from '84 to '89, and Draco Rosa here, who, uh, is Robbie Rosa, uh, who's singing right here, who, um, '84 to '87 since he looks to be a little bit older.

I mean, some, yeah, it was ...

So I thought it might be interesting to highlight a few different artists and the importance of a particular song that they brought to the Tiny Desk.

Alex Ferreira, Draco Rosa, and Los Tigres Del Norte.

They're each gonna share with us in their own words what one song from their Tiny Desk meant to them.

We're gonna kick things off with Alex Ferreira and his song Monte Adentro.

Quizá yo pueda ser en tu vida un error excelente.

Alex Ferrero's words are just as profound as his music.

We're gonna take a short break and then we're gonna come back with, uh, Draco Rosa and Los Tigres del Norte.

[singing] Se están fundiendo las estrellas, calentando el corazón.
