Dr. John Seward

What Dracula: The Night Around Us works as, it is a modern reimagining of Dracula.

So rather than being set in 19th century London, this is set in 21st century America, and it takes the familiar characters from Dracula, such as, uh, Doctors John Seward, um, and Renfield and the female characters of Mina and Lucy, but presents them differently.

Uh, most interesting aspect of this, I think, is that in this case, rather than being friends, Mina and Lucy are respectively mother and daughter.

It also does a nice job of something that I think has become more common in recent vampire narratives is, spoiler, there's a vampire in this.

am beginning to wonder if my long habit of life amongst the insane is beginning to tell upon my own brain.
