[laughs] We'll be contrasting that neighborhood's history today as we head to busy downtown Brooklyn, which is the borough's governmental, business, and commercial center.

And where, unlike SoHo, very little looks the same as it did a century ago.

Because in downtown Brooklyn, history has very often been erased and rewritten, or reconstructed.

For the most part, that is.

There are still some very important historical landmarks in downtown Brooklyn that are preserved.

Uh, a historic church, a few art deco skyscrapers, and even a post office.

There are also businesses like Junior's Cheesecake and Gage & Tollner's that define themselves in the traditions of the past.
