Downcycling

Recycling, downcycling, upcycling, what do these things even mean? Recycling for me is broadly just the process of recovering atoms.

you're just recovering things to prevent them, usually to prevent them from going to landfill.

Downcycling, a word many of us don't like to use,

but

at least as a thought experiment, we should keep that in mind.
