Some of the author's work was published in The New Yorker, also National Geographic.

Douglas Preston's book looks at a group of documentarians, Honduran and American archaeologists, looking for rumored lost cities in what is now eastern Honduras and using LIDAR to do it.

this most recent paper published in the journal Nature, the one that we're talking about with all these 400 new structures that they found, one of the big takeaways was that the Akiri civilization was maybe much larger than previously thought, overturning assumptions with data from this new LIDAR survey that discovered these 400 new structures.
