Doug Williams

I'm Christina Gianni with The Hayes Post and Eagle Radio, and I'm speaking with Doug Williams of Grow Hayes about the 11th and Main Airbnb on this episode of The Hayes Post podcast.

Well, this morning we thought we would talk about a development at 11th and Main.

They're doing a short-term rental, renovating that building, and they're using community development block grants, which usually is shortened to CDBG.

I wonder if you could speak a little about how you see yourself as having been transformed through your engagements with Decinta, and maybe how that personal transformation informs how you think about indigenous futures and Decinta's future itself.

I think in a lot of ways, um, my work at Decinta has been-- is the fuel for a lot of my writing and a lot of my academic thinking in particular because, um, I think the land, um, through my work with Doug Williams in my own territory has been a real driving force.

But going to someone else's territory, working with another group of elders very intimately over now quite a, quite a long period of time, and seeing this group embody it, seeing those glimpses of, you know, another world is possible.

It's already here.
