So theoretically, Doug Shane, who had flown the White Knight and ran Mission Control, who had also been an old timer with BERT, but steeped aerospace engineer, also from Kansas.

he theoretically was the person that was choosing uh flight assignments behind the scenes it was really bert approving everything and i had to get into that in the documentary to just figure out who's really making the calls here but it was at the end of the day bert rattan and who can blame him because i mean he's it's his reputation at stake yeah
