Decker is a disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con who starts over as a private investigator in South Florida.

This series is inspired by Hyacinth's 1987 novel, Double Whammy.

But it's important to state that R.J. Decker is not simply a television version of Double Whammy.

The show takes the character and the inspiration from that 1987 novel and builds a whole new television story around them.

The original Double Whammy... that introduced R.J. Decker.

He was a photographer for a newspaper who becomes involved in a bizarre mystery surrounding professional bass fishing.

The television version takes this basic character concept and places him into a new South Florida private investigator story.
