Doryphoros

So there are instances earlier than the Prima Porta statue of Augustus being barefoot, wearing a military outfit.

But if we think about the Doryphoros and earlier statues of athletes, they're barefooted.

So I think We shouldn't necessarily think of Augustus here as being a god per se, or that doesn't preclude that interpretation.

But I think it is suggesting divine-like aspects of him.
