A few little things to think about, both in terms of observation, assessment, bone, functionality, and then just this last little bit we just talked about, which is just about seeing things for yourself, but also perhaps using resources that are out there, that are available, or that might be through your association or through your friends or your contacts, or possibly even through...

So if you want to kind of deep dive on that, search sheep versus goats.

And you're going to find that white versus black headed Dorper.

This is a question that I get a lot.

Essentially, they are the same animal.

But every single place that I've been to that is raised both side by side have the same answer in terms of the general difference between white Dorper versus black Dorper.

The white Dorper has just a slightly larger carcass and a slightly lower body.

People are going to counter that statement about lower fertility, saying that sheep fertility is a management issue.

And I would largely agree.

Yeah.

It's either that or a Dorper, um, but I'd assume it's a Suffolk 'cause it's the most popular breed.

Oh.

I want one.

And wool fiber takes dye, and it's good, and it comes in the color of what you see in wool garments, whatever color it happens to be.

The hair on Damoras and Dorpers and everyone else can't take dye, and so it's contamination.

So you'll get like a Dorper mickey, a, a, a Damora mickey in with a mob of Merinos, and it'll put its fiber through all their sheep.

So it'll get to the mill, and they'll be trying to make this nice garment.

That's a significant investment, and it's had mixed results.

Yes, we are getting lambings.

We're getting nowhere near the 100% and above you used to get- From Dorpers, which we are now, we're Dorper sheep now, um, before.

But we're getting between 50 and 90% lambs, and we'll see how we go.

Um, it's been tight for those Merino breeders over a long period of time, and, and good luck to them to be able to reap the rewards that they did the other day because they put a lot of time and effort.

And there's been a lot of people go back into, you know, the Dorpers and the Aussie Whites and some of that western country.

So th- that's taken a lot of numbers away from some of these sales as well.

An environmental law expert says if the New South Wales Land and Environment Court rules in favor of a Brumby advocate's bid to stop culling, it won't last long.

I had a bit of a story that I didn't mind.

Queensland police are investigating after about 5,500 Dorper sheep...

Worth more than $1.7 million were allegedly stolen from a Western Queensland farm.

the fuck's a Dorper sheep?

So police said the sheep were stolen from property outside Blackall at about 830 kilometres west of Brisbane between February and May this year.

Had an estimated value of $1.7 million.

They're fitted with the white National Livestock Identification System tags and are Dorper sheep, a breed with white wool but a black face.

It just beggars belief for me because I know how difficult it is to round up sheep and to load them onto trucks, let alone 5,500 of them.

So detectives from the Rural and Stock Crime Squad say thousands of these Dorper using rams were stolen.

And the missing sheep, worth a stack of money, and obviously it's left the families absolutely devastated.

That's their livelihood.
