Dopesick

It's been going on for years.

What would you say really came to light to where you decided I really have to do this? Was it connecting with Rick? Because I know Dope Sick was a series that you were watching that really influenced you.

And then you had your own situation with your mother.

So what was the that you said that I have to jump in and do this?

And I was like, Oh my God, what did I do? And it, talking about a five-star facility in Los Angeles.

So that I lobbied to get into, like I did a song and dance to get her in there because it was a three-year waiting list.

And after I was watching Dope Sick and the last episode, He, with the character, Peter Sarsgaard, plays Rick Montcastle, and his partner comes in and said, we have our next case, and it's another pharmaceutical.

But this time it's Abbott Labs, and they're off-marketing this anti-seizure drug for epileptics to nursing homes to chemically restrain them.

I mean, there's a bunch of things, but it also reminded me of OxyContin, and OxyContin, we were told, was the first non-addictive opioid, right, when it came onto the scene in the late '90s.

So this is what's crazy.

I'm so glad you bring this up.

During the pandemic is when Dopesick comes out.

Mm-hmm.

And I'm watching this, and I'm already having, like, the wheels are turning where I'm questioning, you know, how much can I trust the government when it comes to health recommendations? I'm watching Dopesick, and I was very ignorant on the opioid crisis, and very privileged to be able to say, you know, my family wasn't touched by that.

And so I just didn't understand a lot of it, and I'm watching this show and I am enthralled.

Now, why would Altoida write that he uses ElevenLabs all the time?

Oh, because sometimes, um, in Dopesick, Michael Keaton can't sound like me.

I don't sound like a, like a user, an abuser.

Or is he just using that in s- in, in his life as, like, a production person?

You gotta watch Night- Night Shift.

Not a fan, but I am a fan of Michael Keaton.

He did a series called Dope Sick, where he played a drug addicted doctor, and he was fantastic in that.

Do you remember him in Night Shift with Henry Winkler? He used to carry around a recorder and record all of his ideas.

Great comedic actor.
