because I need to order one still too.
StephenHOST
14:34
And then finally my Doom Eternal for Xbox One.
Jeremy PowersHOST
14:38
Oh, wow.
Jeremy PowersHOST
14:38
That's delayed.
StephenHOST
14:46
Yeah, because they wouldn't send one without the other.
StephenHOST
14:48
So I was like, okay.
Jeremy PowersHOST
14:51
Doom Eternal was like well over a year ago.
Jeremy PowersHOST
14:54
Just a little bit.
TheUnchartedWolfHOST
68:48
It's like, okay, I'm supposed to focus on the big guy.
TheUnchartedWolfHOST
68:50
But the problem is, I think, Dark, the best example, you know Doom Eternal, how they have, like, the little imps and the zombies all around, and they're, like, the fodder enemies.
TheUnchartedWolfHOST
68:58
And the reason they're there is because you do that to, like, get health, get ammo, all this stuff.
TheUnchartedWolfHOST
69:04
There is a reason why they exist, and they are not annoying.

But then maybe the original is still good, so what do we need the remake for? I mean, the Doom new stuff wasn't...
Jon RichterHOST
37:37
I just prefer original Doom to all the Doom Eternal and all that bollocks.
Matt AdcockHOST
37:40
I was going to say, actually, hasn't Doom kind of ventured into Quake territory with some of the recent Dooms?
Jon RichterHOST
37:46
Yeah, that's true.
Wheelie AverageHOST
46:01
got um so that was interesting but we've got one here from opportunity fishing who who says question for next podcast Do people who get paid to play games, even though that's debasable, do people who get paid to play games have backlogs like us regular Joes? Yes.
Wheelie AverageHOST
46:26
For example, this person has Control, Cyberpunk 2077, Doom Eternal, Space Marine 2, and other games in their Steam library that they haven't actually played yet.
Wheelie AverageHOST
46:37
And if we do have a backlog...
Wheelie AverageHOST
46:40
Which game from the backlog are we hoping to tackle next?
Paul ThurrottHOST
7:27
this stuff in here, and then the ability to kind of add apps and games actually to this list and then customize them individually.
Paul ThurrottHOST
7:34
So for example, the game I'm going to run in a moment is Doom Eternal, which is probably four or five years old at this point, but as a modern game is really, really nice looking, et cetera.
Paul ThurrottHOST
7:44
So it's set to be on.
Paul ThurrottHOST
7:47
This is the default setting for this.
Paul ThurrottHOST
8:19
So what I had done beforehand was go into the game and configure it for a relatively low resolution.
Paul ThurrottHOST
8:25
I also did some benchmarking with just frames per second just to see what it was like.
Paul ThurrottHOST
8:29
You know, on this computer, Doom Eternal at normal res, pretty high quality graphics across the board, gets tremendous frame rates.
Paul ThurrottHOST
8:38
But I went in and I just changed it to a lower resolution just to kind of see what this would look like.

where it's like a sample of like, okay, that's what 20% of the player base is doing, and you can extrapolate that data whenever you know how much of a percentage of the data that is to see what everybody else in the player base is doing, right? So it's that simple.
AsmongoldHOST
9:02
Check Doom Eternal.
AsmongoldHOST
9:03
Yeah, it's a sample size.
AsmongoldHOST
9:04
Well, it's not a sample size.

MattHOST
35:14
They started out when they were still manageable, but they just get really hard, and he just moves so poorly, and it's just...
MattHOST
35:22
Yeah, like, that's when it really started to showcase, like, how, while that was neat that he could do that, like, I wish that maybe for, I wish that they did something kind of like how Doom Eternal did, where it was, like, once you clear a room, like, he maybe speeds up, or, like, you can make it so he can, like, actually climb and stuff, maybe, like, you disable it during combat for some reason, like, But yeah, it really hindered the experience when you move so clunky and slow when you're just trying to like explore and discover things in already an environment that's not necessarily the most interesting to do that in to begin with.
MattHOST
36:03
So yeah, that was my take.
JackHOST
36:07
It encourages a lot of backtracking, and that's not very much fun.
ErichHOST
28:24
Let's make it fun.
ErichHOST
28:25
Make Doom Eternal, but with dinosaurs.
ErichHOST
28:27
Yeah.
FalconHOST
28:28
Oh, and cyborgs.
