Donnie Van Zant

38 Special with a song called Caught Up in You.

One of the Van Zant brothers actually sings lead with 38 Special.

And, of course...

The Van Zandt brothers were a big part of Leonard Schindler and still are today.

Yeah.

Inspired from his brother is what I saw him say in a interview one time.

Oh, yes.

He said, uh-

Yeah

...

I think, I think it's what he's... 'Cause I think he went into audition just, and he didn't know, his, his, his brother talked that way or sounded, so that's kind of like the way he auditioned and, well, the rest is history as they say, so.

[laughs]

Uh, he saw how crushed she was in their family ice cream parlor.

He wrote the comforting, uh, words, "You've got a whole future ahead of you," and big brother lines to remind her that this wasn't the end of the world and it also wasn't gonna be her last heartbreak.

At the age of 17.

Chris Rea originally planned something quite different for Fool If You Think It's Over, though.

It just became the setting in the song.

Funny part is that Ronnie Van Zant later adjusted the lyrics.

It's when he learned that .38 Special, his younger brother Donnie Van Zant's rising Southern rock band, was about to kick off their first national tour starting in Boise, Idaho.

Ronnie changed the Boise, Idaho detail to match that as a little in-joke.
