Don't Let Me Down

Hey.

So a few weeks ago, the three of us did an episode all about cover songs that we think are better than the originals.

Yeah.

And the responses we got from listeners were so passionate-

Yeah, he was really upset about that.

[laughs]

Well, uh, we all brought more picks, more songs that we think are better than the originals, because we left a lot on the table in that first episode, and there were also s- a lot of really great recommendations that listeners sent in.

Lars, you started off the last time.

Lie in our graves.

sans fiddle and then the wonderful lovely sierra farrell comes out for long black veil and don't let me down beatles cover first time played by dnb then we had a he again dancing nancy's pantala into rapunzel to end the set and then we had paper town with dave and sierra fantastic she's on the uh um the studio version and then gray street to close right before they go to the gorge.

Nolan, any thoughts on this show real quick? Uh, mostly, especially about Sierra Farrell.

Uh, yeah, she just has a just generationally great voice.

Um, she is a great performer.

She loved her on long black veil.

And then, uh, if you didn't like this version of don't let me down i gotta tell you you're wrong it's great it's really really good uh i don't know what seems like some people on the boards were were upset about it thought it was not very good i would disagree with that i thought it was great i'm a huge beatles fan obviously um and don't let me down is one of my favorite tracks sierra was incredible with the vocals and i love that dave kind of let her shine with that and he was just doing backing vocals on that um man everyone sounded good and he gets add in some horns on don't let me down come on it was great i loved it and i like that we finally see sierra on paper town as well since she's uh on the studio track that was really nice damn right

absolutely and i thought long black veil was great um i've seen some folks maybe don't like her voice or care for her voice which that's fine i mean music is really subjective and and saying that maybe like it doesn't fit well with dave's i again i i just i think i disagree there i i thought that they play well together whatever however you want to say it but i'm not the i'm not the beatles aficionado that nolan is um and so i know don't let me down but i'm not I, if you play it for me, I'm like, Oh yeah, cool.

Nicky Hopkins on piano on one song, and that is Revolution.

And the great Billy Preston playing electric piano on Don't Let Me Down, which is one of the songs on side two.

The personnel is insane for this record.

At that point, Billy Preston was doing a lot with the Beatles and at that point he was considered the fifth Beatle.

And I hate that.

God, did you see that awful thing during the, the soccer games of Don't Let Me Down for a deodorant commercial?

I heard that, yes.
