i'm only really familiar with the four for i guess the five technically for these songs because there's the late version of don't leave me on the dance floor which is not really a music video it's just a video of her singing the song

Yeah, I greatly prefer it, though, to I don't need an intro to a music video anymore.

It was just these two kind of lanes I was writing in.

And when I would put something like, um, Wild Child, which was, like, quite, like, a stripped down acoustic number next to something like Don't Leave Me On The Dance Floor, it was looking like I was having an identity crisis.

And so I was like, "I just need to, like, choose." And luckily, um, it was again my guitarist, my little adopted brother Tav, who, like, came in to New York, heard what I was making and, quite frankly, was like, "Why don't we make it like a house party? Like, there's an upstairs, there's a downstairs."

Oh, I love that.

You know what I mean?

I think in terms of honoring pure pop, there's a few moments where you do it on the album, particularly Don't Leave Me On the Dance Floor-

[laughs] Is there a feeling that you get in your body when you write a chorus like Don't Leave Me on the Dance Floor or when you write Run Away With Me that just feels like, ah, it's-

I had just been in Sweden too, which is obviously the home of ABBA.

And I was just revisiting how tight those melodies were.

Hearing it again live and then coming home, I was like, God damn, I would really love to be able to... do my spin on an ABBA number like with the kind of more modern productions of today and I knew exactly who I was wanting to do that with and that's CJ and CJ and Arthur actually who I just met in this process but CJ Barron and I have been working together for promotion and beyond and he's just very good at like house dance and all the flavors that we needed to pull this off so we can work together for about five days i think and every day we'd come in and like try again and what you hear is after our five days of attempting that's where we landed with don't leave me on the dance floor

The way she describes those intense feelings makes you feel like you're experiencing it all over again.

And speaking of intensity, her track Don't Leave Me On The Dance Floor is a real heart-rencher.

The emotion is palpable.

It's wild how a dance track can deliver such depth.
