Don Powell

Founder, band leader, business, Coliseum, Coliseum 2.

Don Powell, Slade, he's an important guy, founding member, continuity kind of thing.

Not exactly principal songwriter, but foundational, you know, in that band.

Dave Clark, Dave Clark 5, drummer, band leader.

But Dave and...

Don Powell and Dave Hill have had a falling out.

And Don Powell's coming back with Don Powell's lead.

The man who lost his memory in the bloody...

in a car accident.

The hosts, Ray and Marcus, my pals from WMMR in Philadelphia, they dig into the branches of rock history that don't always get their due.

And on this episode that we're sharing on our Taking a Walk feed, they sit down with a true legend, Don Powell, the founding drummer of Slade.

Now, Slade gave us the stomping glam anthems Come On Feel The Noize, Mama We're All Crazy Now, and so many more.

And that thunderous beat, that was Don Powell.

He's the heartbeat behind some of the loudest, most joyous records of the '70s.

His story also includes real resilience from the band's rise to coming back behind the kit after a life-changing car accident.

It's a great conversation between some radio pros and a rock original, so if you enjoy it, go follow The Imbalanced History of Rock and Roll wherever you get your podcasts.

So here's Ray and Marcus and Don Powell of Slade.

Thanks to him for sharing our episode that's coming up for you guys.

Our conversation with Don Powell from Slade.

So that's his end of the exchange.

To get Grandmaster Flash in a great interview that Buzz did with him really, really is a get.
