Dolly De Leon

What was the reception like of this film back in the Philippines? You know, looking at this cast, you've got an incredibly stacked Filipino cast where it feels like every top Hollywood name that is Filipino heritage is in this film because you've got her as one of the main voices who's half Filipino, Manny Jacinto.

Lea Salonga, as you said, Dolly DeLeon, Joe Coy, Eugene Cordero, Nico Santos.

Like this is a very stacked cast.

Was this a popular film back home considering its subject matter and cast or how'd it go?

Uh, of course starring, uh, starring Gabriella Wilson or better known by her stage name of H.E.R, H-E-R.

Uh, Liza Soberano, Dave Franco, Manny Jacinto, uh, Jenny Slate, Lea Sal- Salonga, uh, Dolly de Leon, Joey Koy, among others.

Uh, it tells the story of two best friends who are, uh, transported to this mysterious island and they must find their way out as they try to remember the events of the previous night, uh, while at the same time kind of examining, uh, their own friendship, uh, while trying to escape, while also trying to escape this, uh, this mysterious demon.

Uh, so as I usually do...

... think about two lifelong best friends getting lost in a magical realm rooted in Filipino folklore, where the price of getting home is forgetting their entire friendship forever.

It features an incredible voice cast with Liza Soberano, H.E.R., the singer H.E.R., Dave Franco, Manny Jacinto, and Dolly de Leon.

And currently it has a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and a very strong 3.9 on Letterboxd.

So critics are calling this DreamWorks animated adventure an instant classic that pairs gorgeous visuals-

He definitely gave it his best.

And then on Jo's side, her dad, as we said, is in the U.S. And so it's just basically her and her grandmother, Lola Fatima Yunson, played by Dolly DeLeon.

And she is, as you said, she's the one who gives them this folklore that they're then seeking this island of Nicali that they eventually get to go to because she did go there in the past.

But also she's definitely the person that Joe takes after in terms of, yeah, that mischievous side and the creative side.

Yeah, and for those that name is familiar, Dolly DeLeon, she was, I believe, the Golden Globe nominee for Best Supporting Actress from Ruben Ostlund's Triangle of Sadness a couple of years ago.

Oh, right.

Okay.

It really has a negative impact on you as an individual.
