He listed four movies that he deemed perfect.
Braden ShawHOST
37:12
And it was The Godfather, A Place in the Sun, Dodsworth, and Galaxy Quest.
Braden ShawHOST
37:17
And like, I'm sorry, I'm not laughing at this necessarily because it's just such a wild take, but it is like, it is so funny to see, you know, like obviously Coppola's classic, you know, the George Stevens movie, A Place in the Sun with Monty Clift and Elizabeth Taylor.
Braden ShawHOST
37:32
And Doddsworth, which I think is this point at this point, like an underrated William Wyler movie and Galaxy Quest.

Lou SabiniGUEST

yeah after that george stevens was one of the biggest directors in hollywood oh yeah it's amazing you know the directors that came from roach leo mccary and george stevens two of the biggest directors but anthony something you were saying that that interested me about uh the code of uh the you know when the code came in i don't really object to it that much because what i noticed though our movies were getting bigger uh you know they were they're you know more lavish and the writing was more creative you know and you could still make you know by 19 you know 35 was kind of a shaky year but by 36 you were getting some pretty adult content in movies when you consider movies like wife versus secretary with harlow gable merloy and James Stewart, and also, most notably, William Wyler's Dodsworth with Walter Houston and Ruth Chatterton.
Lou SabiniGUEST
49:19
Those are very adult films for the time.
Lou SabiniGUEST
49:22

These are all pretty great films.
QuintonHOST

Even the Harris, directed by William Wyler, director that we've talked... quite a bit, whether it be the actual Best Picture winners, Mrs. Miniver and The Best Years of Our Lives, or his other films that were nominated but didn't get the wins like Jezebel and The Little Foxes and The Letter and Dodsworth and Dead End and Weathering Heights.
QuintonHOST
8:22
It's just dawning on me that he's probably had a movie nominated pretty much every year at this point.
QuintonHOST
8:26
But once again, The Harris is No Exception was also nominated for Best Picture, didn't get the win.
