All right, let me start with the third table.

Since this is an essay some of you may have read, this is my contribution to the catalog at Documenta three years ago in Casa.

The third table refers to Sir Arthur Stanley Eddington.

a British physicist who was probably best known, surely best known, for his observations of an eclipse that helped verify Einstein's theory of general relativity.

And Eddington concedes that this second table also exists, and it's very hard to get rid of.

But he, of course, as a physicist, is convinced that the first table is the more real one, that the two will always go hand in hand, we'll always be seeing double with the first and second table.

Now, it occurred to me as I was writing this essay for Documenta that neither of those tables is the real table.

There's actually a third table in between the two that's the real table.

Although at that time I was living in New York, but we were kind of bouncing things back and forth.

We revisited everything for Documenta 1997.

So we went back to the notebook, looked at these crazy designs that were designed in the 70s.
