You said this album from DJ Shadow is close to your heart.

Well, to put it historically in a context like, I mean, around that was like, I don't know, like 93, I think 90 into 95.

And then like even like the Beastie Boys or DJ Shadow or Daft Punk or like all Squarepusher and Aphex Twin.

And it was all happening, you know.

It went from just being like Nirvana and then before that it was fucking horrible.

And then it just went into this electronic music.

what England what boom boom boom and then and we were just like la la la la la and you know when Brad left the transition when we got Burke it was historically a lot of things were going on man there was no iPhones internet emails were just starting up online stuff was just on and and you know you could have like a cracked fruity loops on your computer and before you just have like a four track So that was kind of happening at the same time that Burke come in and like he was, he was always like a bit of a dork with all the, or he knew how to fucking switch something on and, and, and work it straight away where me and Preston would be looking at it like, you know, like it's a bronze statue of Gladys Berejiklian and, and.

we're like we don't know what to do with this but like burke was always and he still is like that and and then me i was the second boy scout and presser just didn't give a fuck he was into he had a sampler and like a million records and he was like dj shadow like he was finding stuff and like even like the loop that we built dust me selector on or or whatever presser was like that like a historian kind of guy but i So yeah, Hayden, it all was just happening, you know, and yeah, we were just like,

Have you seen that new edition of New Edition? DJ Shadow Introducing Turn Sturdy.

Released September 16, 1996 in the UK, DJ Shadow's debut is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

And this one is interesting because it doesn't fit nearly into the typical 90s music nostalgia box.

It's instrumental hip-hop, sampling, atmosphere, turntablism.

Um, but then you had Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana.

There was also electronic stuff like Massive Attack, DJ Shadow.

Then, of course, the vocal thing from the Beach Boys, and also I was hugely into the Smile stuff where they did really interesting arrangements.

You know, they were fusing together different sections.

Definitely later on, once I got over the Limp Bizkit and the Offspring, which is still a great listen, don't get me wrong, but once I got more into the electronic stuff and whatnot, yeah.

Like I said, that tricky one, I really went hard on him and the... and a couple of other ones that I'm not able to even recall some of these ones so I guess I can't really say that I did if I'm not remembering the big ones DJ Shadow was huge for me

like Introducing was a huge one for me too as many others does that count as trip-hop? kind of right?
