As someone who does enjoy a bit of pulp noir fiction, I just want to take on a record that while people seem to equate Dixon Hill being very much in the Raymond Chandler, Philip Marlowe vein, Dixon Hill, with his emphasis on tough guys storming into rooms with guns, is definitely more in the vein of the Mike Hammer novels written by Mickey Spillane.

With Picard out of the picture, Riker now settles her sights on Riker after a rather unsettling scene where she tells Wesley that she's too young for him right now, but maybe when he's older.

Because if you thought this episode couldn't get any worse, it's also a Dixon Hill holodeck episode.

In this very episode, the Dixon Hill thing, Jean-Luc is taking out his secretary, which hello, sexual harassment much.

Episode 066: Captain's Holiday

I think it has incredibly strong characterisation that relies on what you know about the character of Picard that's been established so far.
E
9:28Eddie EdwardsHOST
Which is, we know that Picard loves archaeology, and we know that Picard loves his Dixon Hill adventures.
E
9:35Eddie EdwardsHOST
And therefore, this sort of bollocks is exactly the sort of shit that he fucking lives for.
M
9:41Mark O'NeillHOST
Yeah, exactly, yeah.

And then Picard later on is like, well, you've got it already, haven't you, Vashj? Because you only wanted me and the Ferengi to see that you'd dug for it and it wasn't there so that we'd be witnesses to leave you alone and then you could go flog it.
E
