Ditchling

For me, it's almost analogous to...

I stayed in a town called Ditchling when we were working on our record in East Sussex.

And it's identical to this small village with one pharmacy, two pubs, basically nothing but houses otherwise.

Pretty much no footpaths outside of the major cities, like the village center high street.

She's from Brighton

... and she was living in Ditchling.

Oh, that's right.

She's in Brighton.

She is in Ditchling.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And she's in Ditchling.

Five nights a week we arrived doing that.

And talking of entertaining the troops, I understand you grew up in Ditchling.

Yeah, that's right.

You know it?

1942, let's go back then.

I was very worried that, I mean, I'd never been an actor before and I've got to be in this, in performing in theatres.

Would they hear me? So I used to go up on the top of the South Downs above Ditchling with a chum and we paced out 100 yards.

He had the script ready.

It's a nice little commune.

And throughout history, you've had these little communes dotted around, Ditchling being one.

And we've sort of got one here and it's just everyone seems to get on and it's just a nice little space to work.

And of course, we've got nice views and the countryside around us as well.
