Quire logs, which Liss cited as a potential stabilization measure, are cylindrical logs made from compressed coconut fibers that can be placed on imperiled slopes to combat chronic erosion, like that seen in the area just west of Ditch Plains, where the town's Rheinstein Preserve is located.

Liss said the timeline for the work is pending DEC permitting and approval.

The preserve has been under East Hampton Town Stewardship's since 1972 when town officials bought the land for $360,000 with a $270,000 contribution from the federal government.

During the summer, you can't park at those beaches because you have to be a resident to go to those beaches.

You can't, like go to surf Montauk, Ditch Plains, you actually can't park there in the summer.

So how do you surf

it? You have to know someone or there is like maybe some area you can park, but for the most part, you have to have a sticker on to park or else they will give you a ticket.
