Disney's Magical Express

Really? We were at Caribbean Beach having breakfast and we were checking out of the hotel and they thought the trip was over.

But unbeknownst to them, we were boarding the Magical Express to go to Port Canaveral to get on a Disney ship.

And so I pulled the ears out of a bag and I said, oh, hey, I thought you guys might like this.

Oh, but it'd be so much better if we actually wore these on a cruise.

I don't think I've ever rented a car at Walt Disney World like in the last decade that I could think of because, you know, Uber is so great.

And, you know, we had we used to have Magical Express, you know, those kind of things.

So I just could do without with the way I flew in.

But I do appreciate your idiosyncrasies.

And yeah, I think we did maybe a week at Disney.

So yeah, love checking in to Port Orleans Riverside, still had the Magical Express.

and free pass passes oh no yeah i remember yeah you had to do it months ahead yeah you're actually quite good

It is also no longer, and I think it's terrible that it is no longer.

Number 20 that I have is Magical Express with Disney.

The bus ride from the airport.

Fantastic.

Disney to use it.

So, but I knew the value.

Use Magical Express many times.

You're spending a thousand dollars a night and you're gonna charge someone $50 to park their car? Come on.

That, that's the key, and, and that's what I said, and I'll ask you about this, uh, that's what I said about Magical Express.

If you bring back Magical Express, you absorb the cost of that into the hotel rooms, nobody's going to say anything negative about it, and they're going to cheer louder than they did when Chapek left because you're bringing back something that they've missed for this long.

You're already doing it with, with this test of, uh, uh, the value resorts and now Caribbean Beach with the luggage services.

Just add mirrors back in and get it done.

And so he's just got a really cool story and, you know, talking about the operations side and every day kind of ways of managing people, encouraging people.

It's funny 'cause a lot of the things that it, when I was reading that book, they were talking about how they solved problems and how Magical Express solved all these problems and [laughs] at the same time I was reading it, they were like, "We're ending the Magical Express." I'm like [laughs] "Darn it."

Oh.

Yeah, so it's interesting.

... and then found his website, that he has some books and stuff.

And from what you're describing, like, now I'm curious, oh, what problems did Magical Express solve? Maybe I wanna go read this to find out what those were.

So Steve, why don't you introduce listeners to Magical Express for those who don't know?

Oh, man.

So Magical Express was this service from Disney World introduced in 2005, I believe.

And basically, you would drop your checked bags off at the airport in, you know, wherever you were coming from in providence, and you would get off the plane, get onto a free bus called the Magical Express that Disney would provide at MCO Airport.

They would take you to your hotel, and your checked bags would arrive at your hotel room.

It could be, um, what I call experiences.

Uh, the luau at the Poly, the Magical Express, all sorts of things.

Ah, yeah.

Right? All the t- type of stuff is what I'm talking about.

Why did you change this? Why did you take this away? Well, I can go down the business route and tell you why that stuff is gone.

I could also tell you how to bring it back.

Let's talk about Magical Express when that comes up.

I'll tell you how to bring that back and make it even 10 times better than it was.
