There's a reason the Disney Renaissance ended.

It had to end sometime.

And it wasn't because of Atlantis or Treasure Planet.

Yeah, that's the bit I'm worried about.

But, like, even the Disney Renaissance was, it didn't start in the 90s, but it was predominantly the 90s was the Disney Renaissance as well.

which is kind of crazy for animation because it was still that kind of 2D hand-drawn animation.

But it was just, I think for some films, now I might be mixing this up with DreamWorks as well.

Well, my first Disney ever memory, I feel like because I grew up right at the Renaissance.

So I think I remember watching Little Mermaid for the first time in the theaters.

And actually, was it in Because that would have been 88.

Today's movie review is for The Little Mermaid.

The Little Mermaid, released in 1989, is a captivating animated adventure that marked a significant turning point for Disney, heralding the beginning of the Disney Renaissance.

But today, when we talk about the '90s, we're talking about a promise made good, an explosion of art and ambition, the Disney Renaissance happening in the multiplexes, the birth of dedicated children's programming like Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, the rise of adult and teen animation on MTV and the Fox Network.

See, animation is a continuum.
