Disappearance of Amy Wroe Bechtel

The police believed that Dale was likely a serial killer.

They suspected that he may have been responsible for other victims, such as Amy Roe Bechtel, who disappeared from Lander, Wyoming in 1997.

The woman's vehicle was later found near the Shoshone forest, but Amy's body was never found.

It was known that Dale had been in Landa at the time of the woman's disappearance.

Oh.

This is the story of Amy Bechtel.

And we start...

So she disappeared on July 24th, 1997 from Lander, Wyoming.

Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

So Amy Bechtel's car, Stephanie Tinsley's telling us, was found on a trail in Shoshone National Forest.

I apologize if I said that wrong.

And, and so, um, and so there wa- there was a, a young woman who lived in, uh, Lander, Wyoming.

Her name was Amy Bechtel.

And she was, uh, she was an elite marathon athlete, marathon runner, and she was training for the Olympic trials, and she vanished while training in the mountains above Lander, uh, training for the Olympic trials.

And so I, like you, I had not considered, considered it, um, a- as even a thing, right? I mean, I knew it was possible, and people went missing, and people were abducted, and, uh, I kinda thought of it as sort of a milk carton, urban, urban thing.
