Dragon's Lair featured animations by former Disney animator Don Bluth, who would go on to great success with movies including The Secret of NIMH and American Tail, The Land Before Time, and All Dogs Go to Heaven.

While the game's characters, Dirk the Daring and Princess Daphne, were not adapted to the degree that Pac-Man or Donkey Kong were, Dragon's Lair did receive its own trading cards and a set of children's books.

The same year Supercade and Dragon's Lair appeared, the video game market crashed as a result of both a glut of games and the declining quality of these games.

Dragon's Lair accepted, of course.
