Digital public infrastructure

The repatriation of the money is one of them.

The other one is the DPI, Digital Public Infrastructure.

How strong is it? The fast connection of the internet, etc.

These are the three things that they are concerned about.

Today, we are diving into the global blueprint of digital public infrastructure, specifically how digital entity serves as the foundation for payments, credit, and financial inclusion, and the role that India is playing in it.

Joining us today is Kamiya Chandra, CEO and co-founder of the Center for Digital Public Infrastructure, or CDPI.

Kamiya's track record spans shaping India's account aggregator framework and DEPA strategy paper.

working with the World Bank on ID4D and today leading CDPI's engagement across 65 plus nations to deploy Sovereign DPI.

So it's very hard to know when to cooperate versus when to compete, I think.

And to do it not from the sense of like an industry lobby where you feel like you have control over the way you're cooperating.

But rather in the true digital public infrastructure fashion across a network, it's very hard to set that up as a precedent.

You can take Learning Commons as an example, philanthropically funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to ensure that state standards, the sort of state curricula, are available uh in a digital format machine readable format to uh to models so that they know that they've got alignment to that now that's not necessarily like there's not something that um the market or the commercial market has provided and the philanthropic philanthropy in the us is stepping in and we're thinking about well what does that look like in uh in england in particular and And that's some of the sorts of things that we have been thinking about around, you know, like supporting the Department for Education on the digital national curriculum.

And then there's also the, well, thinking again about the kind of misconceptions data that we talked about earlier or, you know, the other data sets that can enrich that, you know, they are all part of potentially public digital goods or public digital infrastructure that can support some of that layer of interoperability or layer of infrastructure.

So that's what I think about a lot more.

now and the interesting thing is like those sorts of things and the standards as well that exist you know um that have come out of say anthropic with mcp those are what's become the standard way to connect data to ai models these sorts of things are And the standards didn't come out of somebody like policy thinking it needed to happen.

And I think that's going to be ever increasingly important for countries across the world as they go through their own curriculum change.

And they want to make sure that that curriculum at the fairly wide level is adhered to.

um because that's like part of the sort of social fabric of a of a country and you know so that's the sort of what what does that how far do you need to go with that public digital infrastructure layer to make sure that that can happen you know and that's what we're thinking about at the moment as well with the curriculum change that's happening in england um and and that's due to be taught from 2028 and with ai um as it is now, is likely to be used or teachers are using AI very significantly now or increasingly significantly, they're probably going to use AI to support that change of curriculum.

That might be re-sequencing things.
