up there that's all i know so yeah um i suppose for like the real super fans that just know every record that i've made it's it's a good chance to kind of like maybe come and hear some other things you know and that you know besides the obvious i mean i'm lucky i do have quite a string of hits as they say a string of hits I've got a lot to draw from as far as like super familiar songs and people so that that's that's a that's a blessing but I think yeah I mean there's some artists that have you know only had like technically one hit song that was like played to death by radio and they still do an amazing show because you know life goes on and you and you you know it doesn't mean that that defines you as an artist it's just like one song you've got like an incredible repertoire and yeah it's it's it's about being out there on the coalface i suppose doing doing what you do you learn how to do it i mean i'm still taking notes every time I do a live show.

So I'm not really.

Absolutely.

Yeah.

It's not like, you know, a finished project, but at any means, it's just like, it's like making records, you know, you just kind of keep going and going and going into the cave of wonders, you know? So this by requesting has been a, you know, another level of discovery for me because I hadn't felt that kind of level of connection before.

So immediate, someone asks for something and you play it and you, maybe do a shout out to them, maybe share a little, a piece of their anecdote with the, with the audience.

Has that sort of crossed your mind, that aspect of it and bringing back that human element really centering that?

The idea of going by request, what do you get out of that? What do you take out of that when you have a look at what people want to hear and does that change how you feel about the stuff that you've done or what does that do for you?

Yeah, look, it gives me, it's kind of like an affirmation, you know, of...

You know, it's like, okay, wow, that song means, it gives, yeah, it definitely gives this song some meaning.

And that's beyond just what it means to me, you know.

Like ultimately I do this for myself.

It all starts as an in-joke, you know.

I toil away and I listen to something many, many times when in the process of making a track.

oh,

the way that you'd, you'd hoped it would, or was that something you had to really work on?

Uh, there's always things I have to work on in music.

It's not, like, um, kind of, uh, you know, without sort of some, you know, making it, working to make it yield to me.

But I have an ear, so I mean, some people have done really well with less of an ear that, that I have.

But I can hear something and just, I recognize it, I can play it, you know.

And so my ear is, is, it's been my guiding light.

And when I played classical, it was also the thing that got me in trouble, because the, the conductor would come over and say, "You're not reading the music, are you?" And I'd go, "Well, I did, and now I just, it's, I know what it's gonna do." And s- like, you know.

Do you think it's a bit sad that they ignore your album tracks?

I think it is, yeah.

Too much emphasis is put on the singles.

With my album, I feel that I put a lot into every song.

I know a lot of artists do.

It's not just one or two tracks and the rest is filler.
