Can we talk about Dick Pope for a minute?

Yes, I was going to say, especially if we're going to start with him.

Let's just open up.

On the movie's opening.

a murderer's row.

Yeah, I felt that way too.

And also just to jump back about summing up, I mean, one thing that is a change and I guess just shows the inevitable passing of eras is that in terms of the filmmaking, it's not shot by Dick Pope because he passed away in 2024, I want to say, but it's shot by, I guess, his assistant camerawoman, maybe, and I think is quite beautiful and pulls off a couple of maneuvers that are expressive, although, you know, generally it's this wonderful framing, people's conversation, and I just want to say across the board also, not just the two main actresses, but everyone's acting out that was incredible, especially the guy who plays Rosie's father.

who most of the time is not saying anything, but is incredible.

I mean, the timing in this movie.

[laughs]

But what, what Mike Leigh and Dick Pope would do, would they would come in, they knew what their shot list was, they knew what they, if they had to get a single, a wide, a medium, whatever they wanted, and they would watch.

They knew what they want, they needed, but they would watch what we would do and then see how they could get it, which I think is a better way.

Mm-hmm.

They set it up so beautifully.

It's like every bar that they get to, you know, I think it's, um, Dick Pope's cinematography, uh, or, or yeah, cinematography.

And they, they set up the pints and they're filling them.

And then, um, Nick Frost character gets a water.

But there's an agreed point in time when I have to share with them what I think we're talking about.

And it's quite interesting in the context of this film, the great cinematographer, Dick Pope, who shot all of my films since Life is Sweet.

This was actually the second.

we sat down and I sort of said, well, as it's emerging, as far as I can say at the moment, it's kind of nocturnal.

Children of Men, Emmanuel Lubezki.

Illusionist, Dick Pope or Dick Poop, depending on who you are.

And then The Prestige, Wally Pfister.

It's a good cinematography.
