Dick Diver

The Oceania series looking at, yeah, Australian and, I guess, Pacific artists, which is really important.

And there's some coming on like Dick Diver, Gang of Youths, like I feel like more of that era 2010s is coming.

Excellent.

So I highly recommend.

You can turn around and be like, "There he is."

In the, in the book that we're, uh, talking about in our interview portion, uh, today, it starts with an episode of, uh, a gig that Dick Diver played in, um, in Victoria at a, at Meredith Festival, where they had people come out in masks, and the masks were Gina Rinehart, Clive Palmer, Rupert Murdoch, and Trump, funnily enough.

But it's like, you know, those three people are like extremely recognizable representatives of the, you know, richest sections of, of our society.

So I think that it's good to, to have that kind of messaging.

Quite as I said, this is my opinion, not just my own, but many people that I've spoken to.

Uh, Mitch is also a writer and a record seller at, uh, Refreshed Records, and he's just written this book, Calendar Days, uh, for Bloomsbury's 33 1/3 Oceania, uh, Editions.

Um, and it's all about the dole wave sort of scene that surrounded Dick Diver in the mid 2010s.

Uh, we just heard from The Truffle Pigs.

That track was called "Wild Rose." I chose that because, um, Truffle Pigs features half of the members from Dick Diver.

Uh, Dick Diver is the band who wrote the song "Waste the Alphabet" that I named the show after.

So I thought instead of just playing the actual song, "Waste the Alphabet," I would, uh, yeah, play a Truffle Pigs song since they just released that record.

Um, said record is called Lanes and Lanes and Lanes.

I don't think it's on the major streaming services.

Um, and Amy Hill is also in the band.

Uh, Amy and Al from, uh, Dick Diver, they do music under the name Sleeper and Snake.
