Diamond League

I think so, yeah.

To win the Diamond League final a- and, and to be very competitive with Kerr in the, the ultimate.

Um, you know, to run three twenty-eight and three forty-six.

He's just turned 20.

I mean, he did win the, uh, Diamond-

He won the Diamond League

... not Celestia, the other one.

Uh-

... were going the other side.

What do you do if you're Nuguse? What are you working on in the off season so that you can be ready next year to not have these second place here or second place there? Like, I, I mean, he won a Diamond League this year, t- too, right?

He won two.

Yeah.

Yeah.

He won two Diamond Leagues.

He, you know, he closed really well at World Ultimates.

Like, he ended up fifth, but he ended up closing hard.

I just think you could get creative with it and make it more of something that is distinctive.

Because it's clear that the whole premise of that Ultimate Championship is we must look different from Diamond League.

It's why they had a pink sandpit, salmon-colored sand, as you call it, and a black infield, and the graphics were different.

They were trying everything they could to say this is not just another Diamond League race, and if the kits were the same, it would have been.

Okay, so the solution might be change the kit for Ultimate Championships, but no clothing manufacturer wants to do that because the athletics kit, as niche as it is, is still linked to the fashion industry.

Yeah, I do actually wonder what they get out of it sometimes, the big companies, you know, creating the kit.

So I just think they should get maybe more creative with it and try and lean in.

Because I still stand by, I think the narrative of Ingebrigtsen against five Americans, the picture of him beating the five, the canon Ethiopian dethrone, whatever, the same story was the Americans in the 1500 meter races, Jamaica, USA in the sprints.

So all due respect to the 800 meters out, runners out there that are absolutely crushing it.

It's so fun for me to watch as a fan now in the Olympics or the World Championships or the Diamond League and that sort of a thing.

But I always wanted to truly be a sprinter.

But when I stopped running as much, I put on 40 pounds of muscle in like a year.

But I'm just trying to think.

That was three years ago when Jakob said, "I am the pacemaker" after the Silesia Diamond League.

Surely he's given us more iconic quotes since then.

I mean, all the stuff he said in the Josh Carr trash talk in the build-up to the 2024 Olympics was pretty great.

But I, some of these results at the world half marathon, Almgren, but, like, what is possible on the roads has just changed so radically.

A- and you guys put out some of the stats.

Almgren ran 12:44, smoked everyone at the Diamond League in w- that was Stockholm?

Stockholm 2025, yes.

I don't think they gave medals out at the Ultimate Champs.

Diamond League Finals, they get medals.

Nah, just a winner gets a trophy.

This would be the best year Australia's ever had in distance running.

Like we've been spoiled.

We've been able to access streams this year.

Everything from com games, world cross, world road running, world indoors, diamond leagues.

You just get a stream like that.

I was looking more so through a performance lens and the very pragmatic, logical ways I have.

Yeah, I think it's the right move.

Like what we saw in the men's European champs, is it that Stefan Nielsen? Was that the bloke that won the European 1500? Like in a pace Diamond League race, he's not featuring in the final kick.

So if it's too slow, I think you invite more people into the race that might be able to beat you.
